Yannick and his Philadelphia Orchestra, through President and CEO Matias Tarnopolsky, today announce that the Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center, home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, will bear the name Marian Anderson, starting June 8, in honor of the famous Philadelphian contralto, who was also an iconic civil rights defender. On June 8, a gala evening and a concert by the Orchestra conducted by Yannick will highlight the event, with the participation, among others, of singer and actress Audra McDonald, soprano Angel Blue, and jazz pianist Marcus Roberts.
