Yannick wins the Oskar Morawetz Award

The Oskar Morawetz Award for excellence in musical interpretation was presented to Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the beginning of a concert of the Orchestre Métropolitain on Thursday, September 7th at the Maison symphonique of Montréal. The reknowned composer’s daughter, Mrs. Claudia Morawetz, presented the Award after a short speech pronounced by Mrs. Marie-Elizabeth Brunet from the Ontario Arts Council. Recent recipients include conductor Bramwell Tovey (2015), mezzo-soprano Judith Forst (2013), cellist Shauna Rolston (2011) and flautist Robert Cram (2009).

“Nézet-Séguin's control over the music's shape is breathtaking.”
