Yannick to be a major presence at the Met in 2026-2027

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a generous, dazzling, and highly varied season. Surrounded by a host of internationally renowned artists, Yannick will conduct the Met Orchestra in some thirty opera performances. Under his direction, four operas from the traditional classical repertoire will be performed: Verdi's Macbeth; Wagner's Parsifal; Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier; and Puccini's Tosca. In addition, a new opera will premiere, Lincoln in the Bardo, with music by Missy Mazzoli and a libretto by Royce Vavrek. The story, set in the mid-19th century, is based on a multi-award-winning novel, and its two main characters are Abraham Lincoln and his deceased son.

Yannick will also conduct the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in concerts, including on May 25, 2027, to celebrate the Met's 60th anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) at Lincoln Center. Mahler's Eighth Symphony, the "Symphony of a Thousand," will also be performed three times at Lincoln Center from June 10 to 12, 2027. Additional Mahler concerts will be held at Carnegie Hall. Furthermore, Yannick will perform two chamber music concerts with groups of musicians from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
